The Warming Shelter ILM to open for four nights

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With multiple nights projected to be at or below the freezing mark, a number of warming shelters will be open in Wilmington.
The City of Wilmington and The Warming Shelter ILM are both set to open Sunday.
The Warming Shelter ILM is an extreme weather overnight shelter that opens on Wilmington’s coldest nights and offers anyone in need of a warm place to sleep.
It’s operating out of Grace United Methodist Church at 401 Grace St. and is expected to remain open through Thursday morning.
The shelter requires a large volunteer staff to serve in a variety of roles, including food preparation, hospitality, and cleaning.
Volunteers can sign up by visiting the The Warming Shelter ILM Facebook page or on their website.
Needed supplies consist of canned soda, individually bagged snacks, paper plates and cups, paper towels, napkins and cleaning supplies. Gloves and hats (new or gently used). Sleeping bags in good condition. (NO clothing! donate clothing to other non-profits who specialize clothing distribution).
