The history of the University of North Carolina returns where it started tonight – The Port City.

Legend says Hinton James walked from Wilmington to Chapel Hill to become the school’s first student.

Tonight the author of the new book about UNC’s history, “Hark the Sound of Tar Heel Voices”, will sign copies of his book in Wilmington.

Daniel Barefoot said his book will be enjoyed by University of North Carolina alumnis, fans and more.

“This is the oldest publicly-supported state university in the entire Western Hemisphere. So anybody in the state of North Carolina has the right to love this university,” said Barefoot.

Daniel Barefoot will sign copies of “Hark the Sound of Tar Heel Voices” at 7:00 p.m. at the Barnes and Noble located at Mayfaire.
