Thespians come together to celebrate Wilmington theater
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington’s theater community was in the limelight Friday night.
StarNews Media, with support from Thalian Hall, Land Rover Cape Fear and Yosake, presented the fifth annual Wilmington Theater Awards at Thalian Hall.
From Macbeth to Mary Poppins, Jeff Hidek, one of the show’s producers, said there were a lot of shows that not only drew large audiences but also a lot of nominations in 2015.
While that made the night extra exciting, Hidek said one of the best parts is seeing everyone together.
“Theater people, in general, tend to spend a lot of time either in shows, where they see each when they’re working, or they can’t see other’s shows because they’re working on a show,” Hidek said.
“This is one night when they can just kind of come together, no many what companies they were in, whether they only do plays or they only do musicals. They can really just celebrate each other.”
