Third food delivery driver robbed at gunpoint this week

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – The string of food delivery driver armed robberies continues, after a third driver was robbed last night at gunpoint.

Wilmington police say a female Jimmy John’s driver was making a delivery at Cypress Grove Drive when a woman approached her in the parking lot.

Police say the woman had a gun, demanded food and cash, took those items and then walked away.

She’s described as a short black female, possibly 5’2′ or 5’3″ and was wearing a big black jacket zipped all the way up with a hood.

Officers who responded were unable to locate the armed robbery.

No one got hurt.

This was just the latest in armed robberies of delivery drivers this week.

Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, two delivery drivers were robbed in Wilmington.   A woman robbed a Chopstix delivery driver around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday. That’s the same restaurant that recently was paid with counterfeit cash that appeared to be used for studio props only.

Then, at 3:08 Wednesday morning, a man robbed a Domino’s delivery driver at gunpoint.

Police are looking into the possibility that these robberies are related.
