This year’s ILM passenger totals down 47%
WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) — Wilmington International Airport’s May passenger numbers are finally in and they are still low.
Roughly 14,000 passengers flew in May and, last May, there were about 7 times that number. From January to May 2019, there were 99714 passengers that flew through ILM.
Airport Deputy Director Gary Broughton says there was a steep reduction in flyers starting in March, but there has been a gradual recover over the last couple of months.
He says April had 3,802 total passengers.
Broughton says there are about 7 to 9 flights a day.
But, the airport is expecting an increase in July with American Airlines expected to have 13 a day, Delta at 3 a day and United Airlines with 1 a day.
He says, for the year, the airport is down 47% total passengers as compared to last year.
