Thousands come to third annual Cape Fear Highland Games

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Thousands came out to enjoy Scottish athletics today at the third annual Cape Fear Highland Games.

This event was full of Scottish history and heritage.

The goal of the Cape Fear Highland Games is to provide support to the MARSOC, a foundation that helps support active duty and retired Marine Special Operations Command and their families.

A crowd favorite event to watch was the caber toss.

“To me it’s the caber toss, because it’s the main event, so to me it’s something that doesn’t seem normal that someone would of gigantic statue just throw a log up in the air, but it’s pretty cool so,” event coordinator Michael Caceres said.

Organizers said they hope to continue this event and make it larger every year.
