Power restored in Southport

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) –More than 2700 people in Southport lost power this afternoon after storms moved through.

According to Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation’s outage map, 2,766 people lost power.

It was estimated that power would be restored between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m., but it was back around 4:45 p.m.

We spoke with the Southport Fire Department earlier who said it seemed a majority of the town is dark, but they haven’t had any reports of damage from the storm that moved through.
