Three charged with first-degree murder in fatal New Hanover County stabbing

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Three people have been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 23-year-old man in New Hanover County, according to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities identified the victim as Adam Travon Smith, a 23-year-old Black male, who was found fatally injured in Hanover Pines Nature Park before 7 a.m. on June 16.
Initially, deputies responded to the 6100 block of Carolina Beach Road but their investigation led them to the park.
Sheriff’s deputies closed off a section of Carolina Beach Road to conduct a death investigation.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested Skyler Marie Flores, 18, Savannah May Sprouse, 19, and Kevon Sireal Stanley, 20. Investigators allege the three were involved in the incident that led to Smith’s death.
Flores and Sprouse, both white females, and Stanley, a black male, have each been charged with First-Degree Murder, Conspiracy-Felony, and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.
On Wednesday, Flores and Sprouse appeared in New Hanover County District Court. Stanley is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
All three suspects are being held without bond at the New Hanover County Detention Facility.
The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains active and ongoing. Additional details have not yet been released and are expected to be made public as the case progresses.
