Three men attempt to rob family at gunpoint

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested three men after they attempted to rob a family at gunpoint.

It all took place around 10:30 Sunday morning, off of Castle Hayne Road.

The suspects are 21-year-old Ernest Dukes, 22-year-old Timothy Harris and 25-year-old Christopher White.

Investigators say the men forced their way into the house with a gun and attempted to rob the residents.

Detectives also say before they could steal anything one of the victims scared them off when he ran for help. The men then took off in a black Ford Mustang but didn’t get far.

About 30 minutes later Sheriff’s Deputies tracked down the car and the suspects.

All three men are charged with attempted armed robbery, felony breaking and entering and felony conspiracy.
