Three Wilmington brothers arrested on multiple charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The man wanted in connection to a Wilmington shooting has been taken into custody, according to police.

The Wilmington Police Department arrested Courtney Antwain McNeil for the shooting that took place on Rankin St. on Monday.

Police say the victim is currently in stable condition.

McNeil was arrested during a traffic stop conducted by the Wilmington Police Department Mobile Field Force (MFF) team in the 200 block of S. 6th Street around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. During the stop, police say they found a pound of marijuana and a firearm, and two of his brothers, who were inside the car, were arrested on related charges.

Here is a breakdown of the arrests with additional notes:

Courtney Antwain McNeil, 20, is charged with Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Distribute Marijuana, Felony Carrying Concealed Weapon – Gun, First Degree Attempted Murder, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Intent to Kill. He is being held under a $550,000 secured bond.

Police say McNeil was arrested in October 2019 for the shooting of a 14-year-old in the Houston Moore community on October 9; however, charges were dropped due to a lack of cooperation from the victim. McNeil was released from custody.

Takari McNeil, 20, is charged with two counts of Assault on a Female, one count of Communicating Threats, one count of Threatening Phone Call, one count of Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Distribute Marijuana, and one count of Misdemeanor Carrying Concealed Weapon – Gun.

Police say the assault and threat charges were related to a prior incident. He was wanted on outstanding warrants.

Parish McNeil, 30, is charged with Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Distribute Marijuana. Bond information is not yet available.
