WILMINGTON, NC (StarNewsOnline.com — A state judge has ruled in favor of Titan America and the state, upholding the cement company’s air permit from 2012 for its proposed cement plant in Castle Hayne.
Back in April 2012, environmental groups challenged the N.C. Division of Air Quality’s decision to issue Titan a permit by filing a lawsuit with the Office of Administrative Hearings, a quasi-judicial agency that hears administrative law proceedings.
The lawsuit was filed by the Southern Environmental Law Center on behalf of the N.C. Coastal Federation, Cape Fear River Watch, PenderWatch & Conservancy and the Sierra Club.
