Toddler in serious condition after being hit by a car

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington toddler is in serious but stable condition after he was run over by a car in his driveway Wednesday, police say.

Wilmington Police responded to the 2000 block of Monroe Street shortly before 10 a.m.

The father of the 17-month-old boy was reportedly in his car backing out of the driveway taking another child to school, when the toddler ran out of the house and into the path of the vehicle.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The accident remains under investigation.
