Tornado-damaged Raleigh mobile homes demolished
RALEIGH, NC (AP) — Residents of a Raleigh mobile home park say
they have lost more items after their homes damaged in the April 16
tornados were bulldozed without sufficient warning.
Several mobile homes in the complex were badly damaged when
tornados swept through area, and four children in the trailer park
died.
The park’s owner, American Residential Communities of Colorado,
began bulldozing the damaged homes deemed as safety hazards about
two weeks after the storms. The company says residents were given
five days to claim their belongings.
Some residents say they lost business and personal property
because they didn’t get word in time to salvage items from their
property. Several of the families living in the mobile home park
speak only Spanish.
