Tow truck owner rips off car dealer says investigators

Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are searching for a former contract employee of John’s Auto Sales, located at 705 Tatum Road in Shallotte. Trent Delacruz Mufuro, owner of A&J Transport, Towing and Recovery obtained $62,350 worth of property belonging to the owner of John’s Auto Sales over a year’s time period while contracting work.

Trent Delacruz Mufuro, W/M DOB 12-30-1969, has been charged with 1 count Criminal Conversion and 11 counts Obtaining Property by False Pretenses.

The warrants have resulted from a five month investigation, from assistance from the Department of Insurance, North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, Pender County Sheriff’s Office and two agencies in Florida, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Murufo was last seen in Riegelwood in August of 2009 and then surfaced in Lehigh Acres, Florida in the past month. Law Enforcement agencies in Florida assisted with the search of Mufuro and searched the possible residence to find the suspect was no longer residing at that location.

Mufuro has ties in Florida, both in Lee and Hernando Counties. Anyone who sees or knows the whereabouts of Mufuro should contact your local Sheriff’s Office or the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and ask for Detective Ed Carter.
