Town hall on home contracting scams to be held in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Don’t be duped. Next week, you can get help to avoid home contracting fraud.

Attorney General Josh Stein, the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, the Better Business Bureau and others will take part in a town hall.

They’ll discuss how to recognize scams, how to report them and how to avoid being victimized.

The meeting is Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Cape Fear Council of Government in Wilmington.

The event will also be livestreamed on AARP North Carolina’s Facebook page. Viewers will be able to phone in questions at (866) 495-1080.
