Town hopes to start rebuilding Oak Island Pier next month

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Oak Island was granted $1.5 million from the Golden Leaf Foundation and $300,000 from CAMA to help rebuild the Oak Island Pier.

The town made the announcement on Monday.

The Town of Oak Island is still waiting to hear from FEMA about getting approximately $760,000 they requested in reimbursement for rebuilding the pier.

Oak Island Mayor Cin Brochure said they have applied for a construction permit and hope to start rebuilding the pier at the end of the month or early next month.

Crews are expected to finish the repairs by May.
