Town of Leland raises awareness for child abuse
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Town of Leland is doing their part to raise awareness.
The Town of Leland has a pin wheel garden right outside town hall. They created a Facebook video and will plant a pin wheel for every like and share their video gets.
Lieutenant Jeremy Humphries said he hopes their message will be shared far and wide to help reduce the amount of child abuse and neglect that goes on across the country.
“It’s our responsibility to make sure that we are the voice for those who don’t have that strong voice, so it’s up to us to protect our children and that’s what we are doing,” Humphries said.
Last year their goal was 500 likes and they beat their goal, so this year their new goal is 750 likes and shares.
