Town of Wrightsville Beach to propose changes
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Wrightsville Beach will meet tonight to propose a variety of changes to the area, including a cell phone app and an all inclusive playground.
The Wrightsville Police Department hopes plans for a phone app will be approved at tonight’s meeting. The app will be used to send notifications to users on emergencies, events and traffic delays.
“The idea behind it is to not only disseminate information about different things, but to provide for a way to send out notifications quickly,” said Wrightsville Police Chief Dan House.
If approved, the app will become part of a larger network of apps in the area including New Hanover County Schools’ app and apps from other police departments. According to spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay, the Wilmington Police Department will have a similar app in the next year.
Among a list of other items on the meeting’s agenda are plans to build an inclusive playground facility in the town’s parks and recreational area.
