Town pumps the brakes on pedal pubs in Carolina Beach

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — After a lengthy discussion about proposed routes for a pedal pub in Carolina Beach, town council ultimately voted against allowing them on the island.

Pleasure Island Coastal Cruiser wanted to operate a pedal pub that would have held 16 people.

It would have been stored at Good Hops Brewing.

The business wanted waivers that would have allowed them to cross over Dow Road and to use a section of Lake Park Boulevard during the off-season.

Some council members raised concerns about “bar-hopping” and that more should be done for residents instead of tourists.
