TRAFFIC ALERT: Beach2Battleship to cause traffic issues Saturday


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Heading into Wilmington Saturday? You’ll want to be on alert as the Beach2Battleship will create some traffic impacts in the area.

In the morning, drivers in the Porters Neck area need to be on alert. Athletes will be on Market Street in the area of Porters Neck Road down to Military Cutoff Road starting at 7:30 a.m. The area should be cleared from cyclists around noon.

Also in the morning hours, the bridge to and from Wrightsville Beach will have increased traffic until around 10:30 a.m.

From late morning to dinner time, drivers are urged to use the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and avoid the Isabel Holmes Bridge. Athletes will be using that bridge and US 421 from approximately 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

If you plan to head downtown, Water Street from Grace to Dock streets will be closed from noon today until 2 a.m. Sunday. The NHRMC 5K will affect traffic in the downtown area beginning at 9 a.m. That race starts in the Greenfield Lake Park area and ends downtown on Water Street.
