TRAFFIC ALERT: Downed power lines shuts down part of 3rd Street

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Heads up on the roads! Wilmington Police say a car crash has caused downed power lines and drivers should avoid 3rd Street between Greenfield & Martin streets.

Police say it’s a single car accident. The driver crashed into a pole.

Drivers should use 17th Street, 5th Street, and Front Street as alternate routes.

The crash happened around 12:45 p.m.

WPD says the roads are closed in both directions and are expected to be for several hours.
