TRAFFIC UPDATE: All lanes back open on Carolina Beach Rd.

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — All lanes are back open on a busy stretch of a Wilmington road after downed power lines and a damaged traffic light blocked drivers during their morning commute.

Police on the scene say ice is not to blame for the backups, but a truck that hit a light while passing through the intersection on Carolina Beach Road near Legion stadium.

Dispatchers say northbound traffic is flowing again after crews worked to repair the damaged light and lines left in the roadway there. Earlier in the morning, traffic in both directions was closed.

Wilmington Police say the extended arm on the top of a truck was extended too far, causing it to hit a traffic light and some lines near the Southern Blvd. intersection.

The traffic light and lines are now repaired, according to dispatchers.
