Transmission line causes power outages across the area

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Power is back up after some Progress Energy customers experienced outages across the area Monday morning.

WWAY spoke with Progress Energy, and they say the outages were caused by a problem with a transmission line, but that power was repaired for most customers as of 7:13 a.m.

Progress Energy crews are investigating to find what happened to the line to cause the outages, but say power in the area was only down for about 5 minutes.
