Trip to movies a Christmas tradition for many

Going to the movies is a popular Christmas day routine for many families. And with Christmas rain, more people ventured out to catch a flick today. Movie-goers waited in line to get tickets to the movies, but many were not successful. The problem: Tickets were sold out.

Some of the new releases like Sherlock Holmes and Avatar brought people out in the rain, but if you did not get to the theater early enough, you did not get a ticket this Christmas.

"We came out to see the movie to get out of the house for a while, but the movie was sold out," Ed Shaw said. "But the funny part is we got out of line to talk about the next movie, and when we got back in line to buy tickets for the next hour, it was sold out, too, so we’re giving up for the day."

Many people changed their movie preference when they arrived at the theater to avoid wasting a drive to Mayfaire.
