Trooper accused of mistreating dog is fired
RALEIGH (AP) — A Highway Patrol trooper accused of mistreating his police dog has been fired.
The patrol says 38-year-old Sergeant Charles L. Jones was in charge of training police dogs. Officials haven't said precisely what Jones is accused of doing.
But patrol commander Colonel Fletcher Clay says troopers are held to a high standard and face swift discipline if they don't live up to it.
