Troopers investigate fatal accident near Bladen County line
BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — NC State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal car accident on US 701 near the Sampson/Bladen County line.
Lieutenant Jeff Gordon with State Highway Patrol said that around 3:15 a.m. Highway Patrol responded to the accident which was south of Garland, NC near the Bladen County line. 4 people died and 2 were seriously injured in the accident.
Gordon said a 54-year old man was driving a 2006 Ford pickup truck traveling south on US 701 when he drove off the right shoulder, flipped the truck, and hit a tree. The driver along with 3 back seat passengers died. The front passenger has been transported to Cape Fear Medical Center in Fayetteville with serious injuries. One other back seat passenger was also transported to the hospital.
Investigators believe that alcohol was a factor in this crash.
