Troopers on alert as vacationers hit the road

With temperatures rising, more and more people will be traveling for vacation and the North Carolina Highway Patrol will be ready.

For the next few weeks leading up to Independence Day, troopers will be stepping up patrols on our roadways.

The trooper staff will go from ten on duty at one time to twenty to handle the influx of drivers.

“We are already a congested area as you know and when you put more folks in here, we are just trying to put more troopers on the road just to make sure those people who are coming to visit and those of us who live here like you and I are able to drive safely around our community,” said Sgt. Troy Pope.

As always, the best advice is to not drink and drive and always wear your seat belt.
