Troubleshooters: Update on Consignment shop problems

We have an update on a Troubleshooters Report we first brought you in February. The report was about the owner of a local consignment store who sold her store and failed to settle up with her customers.

A number of customers took Lorraine Meyer to small claims court this week. Some of them were waiting to be paid for valuable merchandise, like furniture, that they consigned with her at the Hand Me Downs store.

Those customers told WWAY that Lorraine was a no show for court, and the magistrate ruled against her.

We were finally able to catch up with Lorraine by phone for the first time Thursday. She said she is appealing the ruling to district court. She also said she has mailed checks to about 75 customers within the last two weeks.

We have not yet heard from any customers who have been paid.
