Truck fire shuts down parts of U.S. 74-76
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A truck carrying boxes of frozen chickens caught fire on the side of eastbound U.S. 74-76 near Northwest, according to Brunswick County emergency management. They say the eastbound lanes of the highway were shutdown for a short time to get the fire out.
The fire was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. Monday. Emergency responders say the driver smelled something burning, pulled over and noticed the truck on fire. No word on what caused the fire.
Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Garner said they are working with the trucking company to clean up the fluids cleaned up. He says some got into the woods in the incident.
No one was hurt.
