Turning trash to art treasure!
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Forest of Dreams mural at 10th and Fanning streets in Wilmington has some new neighbors. Art!
Just across the street from Dreams of Wilmington, the non-profit that helps build confidence and youth development through art, you’ll find the word “inspire” on a fence. The art is made of trash. Students from schools in the Cape Fear worked with students at UNCW to turn trash into art with a message.
There are even bird houses on the fence that were once old soda bottles.

Old bottles turned into bird houses
The next block over you’ll find a sign that says “Peace on earth”.
And just around the corner you’ll find sea turtles made of old two liter bottles.
They are just a few examples of the beautification project and community outreach mission happening in the area of 10th and Fanning streets.
