Two arrested for sales of alcohol with no permit


TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) — Two people are in jail in Columbus County after the Columbus County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit searched a privately owned convenience store.

According to a release, citizens complained of alcohol being sold to minors at La Michoacana at 14705 Swamp Fox Highway East. The Narcotics united was able to buy alcohol undercover resulting in a search warrant being issued. They reportedly found cases of alcohol ready for sale along with coolers used to store the alcohol.

After the investigation Pineda Cardenas, 28, and  Teofilo Nunez, 50, were arrested.

Cardenas is charged with one count of misdemeanor possession and sale of alcoholic beverages with no permit. She is being held on $1,000.00 secured bond. Nunez is charged with two counts of misdemeanor possession and sale of alcoholic beverages with no permit and is being held on a $3,000.00 secured bond.
