Two teens arrested in Northchase shooting


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested two teens in connection with a shooting last night in the Northchase community.

It happened at 7:40 p.m. at 4225 Edward Hyde Place. Investigators say no one was hurt, but they found bullet holes in a vehicle and home. Deputies closed off Edward Hyde Place and found shell casings in the road.

According to a news release, patrol deputies found and stopped vehicle on Rockhill Road matching the description of the suspect vehicle. Detectives arrived and took Jeremiah Billy Montgomery, 18, and Garyelle Tynee Purdie, 18, into custody and later charged them with shooting into an occupied dwelling as well as several unrelated vehicle burglaries in the area.

Montgomery was booked into jail under $75,000 bond. Purdie was booked under $80,000 bond.

The investigation continues.
