Two arrested, two wanted in Bladen County drive-by shooting
BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Two men were arrested and two more are wanted in a drive-by shooting in the East Arcadia community Friday.
The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that around 2:30 p.m., 911 calls came in about shots being fired at 161 Carter Road.
The callers told them at least two people were shot.
Witnesses told officers shots were fired from a car with four people inside. They said at least 10 people were sitting outside at the time.
The sheriff’s office said that’s when the victims scattered and the two who were hit were taken by private vehicle to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Their injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.
According to the release, the victims were identified as Gyrell Munn, 43, of Riegelwood, and Tina Simpson, 18, of Riegelwood.
The officers said the shooting was a retaliation from a shooting that happened earlier in the day in Columbus County, according to the release.
Deputies collected more than 30 spent shell casings at the scene.
A deputy on the way to the scene spotted the vehicle matching the description of the one given by witnesses. When he tried to stop the car, it sped off.
According to the release, deputies chased the for vehicle several miles until they forced the vehicle off the road near Elizabethtown.
The sheriff said two men then jumped form the vehicle and at least one weapon was thrown and later recovered.
Two men from the vehicle were arrested.
Deputies arrested Trent Martin Jr., 24, of Elizabethtown. Martin was charged with Felony Fleeing to Elude Arrest, two counts of Assault With a Deadly Weapon With Intent to Kill and one count of Discharging a Firearm From Within An Enclosure.
Phil Andrew Wilson Jr., 26, also of Elizabethtown, was also arrested. Wilson was charged with two counts of Assault With a Deadly Weapon With Intent to Kill and one count of Discharging a Firearm From Within An Enclosure.
Warrants have been obtained for two other men.
Jamie Tyquan Powell, 26, of Elizabethtown, is facing charges for Assault With a Deadly Weapon With Intent to Kill and one count of Discharging a Firearm From Within An Enclosure.
Donte Premier Jones, 19, of Clarkton, also faces charges for Assault With a Deadly Weapon With Intent to Kill and one count of Discharging a Firearm From Within An Enclosure.
