Two burned in Winnabow house fire

WINNABOW, NC (WWAY) — Two people were burned in another Brunswick County house fire this morning.

The call came in around 10:30 a.m. for a home in Winnabow in the 800 block of Gordon Lewis Drive.

Two people were burned in the fire, suffering serious injuries. One person was airlifted to the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at UNC-Chapel Hill with life-threatening injuries; the second person was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with serious burns.

Fire officials said a small fire was in extinguished in the home. The cause of the fire was from an unknown liquid being poured onto a wood burning stove which flashed and burned the individuals, officials said.

Fire crews from Winnabow, Leland, Bolivia, Boiling Spring Lakes and Northwest Fire Departments
responded to the scene along with Brunswick County EMS.
