Two charged in Brunswick County shooting

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Two people wanted in connection with a weekend murder in the Longwood community of Brunswick County are now in custody.

Alfred Lamont Butler turned himself in to deputies earlier today. He was wanted for the shooting death of Sherman Daniels Sunday. Butler is charged with murder, discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling, and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is in the Brunswick County Detention Center without bond.

Editor’s Note: This story originally included the name of another person who was charged as an accessory after the fact. Those charges were later dropped, and the defendant received an expungement of the record.
