Two charged after man found dead in his front yard

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies said two men are facing charges in a murder investigation.

Deputies said the shooting happened around 9 a.m. in the area of the 1800-block of Elkton road in Clarkton. They said they responded to the area and found a man, Bryan Bellamy, lying in the yard. Bellamy died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Deputies said people at the home told investigators the names of the suspects and the car they were in. Witnesses told deputies a car pulled up to the home, called out for the victim and then shot the victim. The suspects turned themselves in around 11 a.m.

Investigators said Christopher Jaquan Smith, 24, and Haywood Lee Lewis, 38, are both charged with first degree murder. Both are due in court Friday morning.
