Two charged in Wilmington home invasion


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Investigators with the Wilmington Police Department have charged two men in an armed robbery at a Wilmington home.

Police said it happened in the 1300-block of S. 2nd Street last night around 7:30 p.m. Police said three men forced their way into a woman’s home and took stuff at gunpoint. A WPD spokeswoman said once officers arrived and established a perimeter, they spotted and arrested two men who matched the victim’s description.

Police said Tyre Omar Barden, 19, and Bishop Rate Ballard, 18, are both facing charges including armed robbery and first degree burglary. Police said Ballard is also facing a felony marijuana charge. Both are in jail under a $30,000 bond each.

Police are still looking for the third suspect. Call WPD if you have any information.
