Two additional suspects wanted in Whiteville shooting investigation

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — The Whiteville Police Department is searching for two men wanted in connection with an exchange of gunfire that injured one person Friday.

Officers responded to the area of Ward Street on Aug. 14 following reports of multiple shots fired.

Police said their investigation determined that shots were exchanged between people inside a vehicle and people at a residence.

Authorities identified several people involved in the incident.

Arthur Dale Jackson Jr. was transported to Columbus Regional Healthcare System after suffering a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Jackson was charged with:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
  • Discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling
  • Discharging a firearm within city limits

Police said Jackson was given no bond.

Shatisha Jackson was charged with felony conspiracy and also given no bond.

Shyreak William Belton was charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied or moving vehicle. He was also given no bond.

Police have now identified two additional suspects who are wanted in connection with the investigation.

Dale Freeman is wanted on charges of:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
  • Discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling
  • Discharging a firearm within city limits

Zyon Willis is wanted on the same three charges.

Police have not provided additional details about the allegations against Freeman and Willis.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Dale Freeman or Zyon Willis is asked to call 911 and provide that information to law enforcement. Anonymous tips may also be submitted through the Whiteville Police Department’s tip line.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police said additional charges are possible.
