Two teens arrested in Wilmington shooting
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two teens face several charges after a shooting early Saturday morning.
Wilmington Police say just before 1 a.m. Saturday, an officer near 15th and Kidder Streets heard a gunshot. At the same time, ShotSpotter reported a shooting.
Officers arrived at 13th and Marsteller and no one was there. Officers then went to 12th and Kidder Streets and saw the suspects walking down the street, but when they saw police, they ran into Garden Lake Estates.
Police say New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies also responded and ran after the suspects. Deputies took the suspects into custody.
Police say while this was happening, they received word than a 22-year-old man has been shot in the foot on South 13th Street, in the Hillcrest community.
Trevon Brown, 18, and Quaneil Allen, 18, both face several charges:
- possession of a stolen firearm
- resist/delay/obstruct public officers
- discharging firearm in reckless manner
Allen is also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. He is in jail under a $52,500 bond. Brown is in jail under a $50,000 bond.
Allen’s criminal record includes a conviction for a 2015 charge of receiving/possessing a firearm.
