Two Wilmington men arrested on gun charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department’s Mobile Field Force help make two arrests over the holiday weekend.

On Friday afternoon, police reportedly tried to stop a car at 1000 Dock Street, but the driver drove off.

Police say the mobile field force found the driver, 31-year-old William Rashiem Lane, had jumped out at 5th and Wooster streets and found him in that area.

Around the same time, they say someone called 911 saying someone threw a gun out of the car at 9th and Wooster streets.

Police say Lane had outstanding warrants and faces a number of new charges.

Later Friday night, police were called to the 400 block of Maides Avenue in reference to a suspect running from officers.

Police say 32-year-old Thomas Leroy Doiley Jr. pointed a gun at officers before tossing it away.

They say officers were able to block Doiley Jr., forcing him to surrender.

He’s facing two counts of assault by pointing a gun and a number of other charges.
