Two 82nd Airborne soldiers die in Iraq bomb blasts

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (AP) — The military says two 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers died following bomb blasts this week in Iraq.

Thirty-year-old Staff Sergeant Sandy R. Britt of Apopka, Florida, and 20-year-old Specialist Donovan D. Witham of Malvern, Arkansas died from injuries they sustained Tuesday near Baghdad.

Officials say Britt's patrol was attacked with an improvised explosive device, and Witham's vehicle detonated a roadside bomb.

Britt was an infantry squad leader with the 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team. He's survived by his wife, Valorie, and son, Taylor, who live in Raeford, and his parents

Witham was a military police officer and was a member of the 1st Squadron of the 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

Witham is survived by his mother and stepfather, both of Malvern, Arkansas.
