Two companies competing to build convention center hotel
WILMINGTON — Two companies are vying for the right to build a full-service hotel at Wilmington’s new convention center.
A local group called Wilmington Riverfront LLC wants to build a 240-room Sheraton Hotel, complete with a full-service restaurant and bar. And a Missouri company, John Q. Hammons, is proposing an Embassy Suites Hotel with close to 300 rooms.
City staff will choose one of these proposals to put before City Council on September 4.
