Two hospitalists now on staff at Columbus Regional Healthcare System
Patient care is now more efficient in Columbus County, thanks to a new position at Columbus Regional Healthcare System.
Two hospitalists are now on staff. The doctors work in 12-hour shifts and treat in-patient admissions. Instead of a patient’s general practioner having to travel to the hospital for treatment, the hospitalists are always on staff, work solely in the hospital, and can treat the patient immediately.
Hospitalist, Timothy Murphy said, “We are always under this roof. And therefore, potentially anyway, things should be a lot more seamless, and a lot less cumbersome in terms of our ability to deliver care.”
“Patients actually in the hospital, if they are taken care of by a hospitalist, have faster recovery or less hospital stay,” said Alexander Kotlarevsky Md.
The hospitalists have been treating patients for about six weeks now. They acquire about four to six patients a day, and expect that to grow.
