Two new members to join City Council
WILMINGTON — Wilmington’s City Council welcomes two new members Tuesday night.
Kristi Tomey and Ronald Sparks will be sworn in at Tuesday evening’s meeting. The two are replacing former Councilwoman Lethia Hankins — who did not run for re-election — and Pat Delair, who was defeated in a runoff.
Sparks is an engineer who hopes his experience will help solve the city’s sewer problems.
Tomey ran for council once before in 2003. She — and most current council members — are strong supporters of the city’s new convention center.
Councilwoman Laura Padgett and Mayor Bill Saffo will also be sworn in for another term.
