Two workers charged with stealing from NC Fair
RALEIGH — Two employees taking tickets at the North Carolina State Fair have been charged with embezzlement.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Wednesday the two Raleigh residents are accused of taking nearly $980 in cash and tickets.
Eighty-seven-year-old Travis Baker Rhodes and 55-year-old Olivia Lee Jordan were charged Monday with embezzlement.
Fair spokesman Brian Long says they worked at an admissions booth. Long says Rhodes had been working at the fair since 2000 and Jordan had been employed since 2005.
Police think Rhodes pocketed purchased tickets and Jordan would resell them and they split the money.
A jail spokesman said Rhodes and Jordan were released after each posted $6,000 bail.
