UNC Football excited about addition of Javonte Williams
CHARLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — Safety wasn’t just the only topic for conversation for UNC Coach Larry Fedora at ACC Football Media Day.
Fedora said today that he thinks the Tar Heels are a much more experienced team than a year ago while also bringing in new stars.
A player who may also see action thanks to a new redshirt rule is freshman running back and former Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldog Javonte Williams.
Williams caught the attention of the UNC staff in the state championship game and Fedora has nothing but good to say about him still.
“I’m really excited about Javonte,” Fedora said. “First of all, he comes in, graduates from High School early, he’s there in the spring and he acts like he’s a junior or senior. He’s very mature. He’s very mature in the way he handles himself and how he approaches every day. he’s always badgering the coaches the day before something was implemented so he would know it before it was put in. He’s very conscientious about being the best player he can be.”
Under new NCAA redshirt rules, players with the designation can play up to 4 games without losing the redshirt. Coach Fedora says they will use that to their advantage when handling Williams.
