UNC facing budget cuts
University of North Carolina budget cuts may mean fewer classes and teachers.
Leaders of the statewide university system have been working to accommodate an anticipated 7% budget cut over the system’s 16 campuses.
The state funds the universities, and is facing a $2 billion budget shortfall. The job cuts would include a total of 1,700 jobs and of that, more than 600 layoffs would be faculty positions.
The cuts would mean that many courses would have to be canceled and class size would increase.
