UNC, military partnership to be highlighted
CHAPEL HILL, NC (AP) — Higher education and the military are two of North Carolina’s most important industries, and one US senator says it’s natural for them to be partners.
Sen. Kay Hagan will join representatives from the military and the University of North Carolina system Monday at a meeting of the North Carolina Military Foundation in Chapel Hill. Hagan, along with UNC President Erskine Bowles and Marine Col. Richard Anders, will highlight partnerships between UNC and the military.
At the meeting, they’ll explore how the university system and military commands based in North Carolina work together on training, access to education and research. Hagan says such collaborations are increasingly important as the nature of the military’s mission changes.
