UNCW baseball team holds annual media day as new season approaches
WILMIMGTON, NC (UNCW) — With the 2016 season just nine days away, UNCW’s baseball team held its annual media day allowing all media in southeastern North Carolina a chance to meet the Seahawks and long-time Head Coach Mark Scalf.
The Seahawks enter their 25th season under the direction of Scalf as the preseason Colonial Athletic Association preseason favorite after winning their fourth overall conference tournament title in 2015. UNCW was also selected by D1Baseball.com and Perfect Game to defend its title.
UNCW opens on Feb. 19, when it hosts Western Carolina in the second game of the Buffalo Wild Wings Battle at the Beach Classic. The Seahawks follow on that Saturday with St. John’s and close out the classic on Sunday with Richmond.
The Seahawk Digital Network (SDN) is scheduled to stream every game this season and all games through the SDN will be free. To access the events, visit UNCWsports.com and click on the “Live Events” button at the top menu on the page. The SDN will offer both full video and audio only options for the first time this season as Mike Vaccaro calls all the action from Brooks Field and on the road.
