UNCW chief of staff leaving for Clemson

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Another top administrator is leaving UNCW.

Chief of Staff Max Allen is heading to Clemson University in South Carolina for the same position.

“While I am honored and humbled to become the Chief of Staff at one of the top universities in the country, this is a bittersweet time for me,” Allen said in a statement UNCW released this morning. “UNCW has been my home for the past twelve years. It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I will be leaving UNCW at the end of the semester.”

Allen came to UNCW in the summer of 2003 as special assistant to then-Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo. He starts his new job June 1, according to UNCW Interim Chancellor Bill Sederburg.

UNCW’s administration has seen significant turnover in the last year. Since May, Chancellor Gary Miller, CFO Charles Maimone and Provost Denise Battles have left for positions at other schools.

The university continues its search for a full-time chancellor.
